From Fluff to Features: The Story Behind the Hensting Alpacas App 🦙📱

 What started as a field full of curious alpacas and happy walkers has now gone digital — we’re incredibly excited to officially launch the Hensting Alpacas mobile app, available now on both Android and Apple!

But like any great adventure, getting here wasn’t a straight line — it was a journey full of learning, late nights, design tweaks, and (of course) alpaca distractions.

Here’s the behind-the-scenes look at how the app came to life.

🧠 Why We Built an App

As our walks and following grew, we realised we needed a better way to:

• Make booking quicker and easier

• Share farm updates with our regular visitors

• Reward loyal walkers with in-app perks

• Showcase the herd and upcoming events without relying on social media alone

Our goal? Keep things simple, helpful, and fun — just like our walks.

🛠️ The Building Process (Fluff Optional)

We started by listing the features our visitors kept asking for:

• “Can I book through my phone?”

• “Do you offer discount codes?”

• “How do I know if a walk is cancelled due to weather?”

• “Is there an easy way to view my walk details again?”

From there, we built the app from the ground up — connecting it to our booking system, shop, photo gallery, rewards program, and more.

There were moments we tested it while surrounded by alpacas, and yes — one tried to eat the test device.
